Coker College announces Business Management Bridge Program Partnership with Northeastern Technical College

March 3, 2016

Coker College announced earlier today it has partnered with Northeastern Technical College (NETC) in Cheraw, S.C., to offer a Business Management Bridge Program for NETC students.

Scheduled to begin August 2016, the program will provide graduates of NETC’s General Business program a direct transfer to Coker College. A direct transfer means all of a student’s NETC coursework will transfer to Coker, and he or she will enter with half of the bachelor’s degree requirements already completed.

An additional general education class will be offered online, allowing students to complete six hours per eight-week term. With this accelerated program, students in the bridge program can complete their bachelor’s degree in only two years.

“NETC is pleased that we are able to work with Coker College with successful bridge programs for our students,” said Ron Bartley, president of Northeastern Technical College. “We are also happy to establish a partnership that will allow students from Chesterfield, Marlboro, and Dillon counties to enroll in Coker College programs and take the classes closer to where they live.  This is a win-win proposition, especially for NETC graduates who wish to continue their education at Coker College.”

In addition, the new program provides a seamless transfer to Coker College for students who are accepted into the program. Bridge program participants will also benefit from admissions counseling with both NETC advisors and Coker College advisors, a waived application fee to Coker and free admission to Coker’s athletic and cultural events.

“We are excited to collaborate with Northeastern Technical College on the Business Management Bridge Program,” said Elaine Hodges, director of recruitment for Coker’s Adult Degree Program. “Northeastern actively seeks avenues to provide valuable resources to their students. This partnership will afford their business graduates an opportunity to continue their education without having to travel outside of their community. The faculty and staff of Coker College look forward to working with the NETC graduates to teach, guide, and provide support as they work toward earning their bachelor’s degrees.”

NETC students intending to transfer to Coker must submit an application for undergraduate admission at least two months prior to the transfer semester. They must submit a Coker Bridge Program Information Form to the NETC admissions office at the time of enrollment at NETC or upon decision to transfer to Coker College. May 2016 NETC graduates will be eligible for the first cohort in August, so they are encouraged to apply now.
