College of Charleston launches a bachelor’s degree program for working nurses

January 29, 2026

The School of Health Sciences is currently accepting applications for its first cohort of registered nurses who want to move from RN to BSN in as little as one year. The online, flexible program was developed in collaboration with Trident Technical College.

“This program is a financially manageable way for nurses to advance their degree and their careers while concentrating on their education or remaining on the job, offering a respected College of Charleston bachelor’s degree with classes taught by distinguished nursing faculty,” says Dean Wes Dudgeon.

To make a BSN more accessible for everyone, all RN-BSN students will receive a 20% discount on in-state tuition, regardless of residency.  Coursework will help students develop advanced skills in patient assessment, health informatics, leadership and evidence-based practice.

“The RN-BSB program empowers nurses to expand their opportunities, increase their earning potential and gain greater professional autonomy,” adds Dudgeon.

Karen Rogers, acting dean of Nursing at Trident Technical College, says this collaboration facilitates degree completion. “It creates a streamlined pathway for Trident Technical College associate degree Nursing students to complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at College of Charleston,” she says.

Learn more and apply on the program’s webpage. Start a new application and choose Online Bachelor Degrees. Then, select RN to BSN as your program.

The 2026 Application Deadline is quickly approaching for the March 9 start date.
