Colliers International brokers sale of 200,000 square foot industrial property to U-Haul

Colliers International | South Carolina brokered the sale of a 200,000-square-foot industrial building on approximately 16.5 acres of land located at 1117 Sparkleberry Lane in Columbia to U-Haul. Colliers’ Midlands industrial team of Chuck Salley, SIOR, Dave Mathews, SIOR, and Thomas Beard represented the seller in the transaction.
U-Haul selected the former manufacturing site to be converted into a self-storage facility serving the fast-growing Northeast Columbia area. The manufacturing plant was formally occupied by Amcor, Inc. before expanding its operation to a 650,000-square-foot facility in Blythewood.
“This site works extremely well being repurposed from an industrial site to a retail site. Due to surrounding high traffic, it is difficult for industrial truck traffic to access the site. We think U-Haul’s adaptive re-use of the site is a great opportunity and is appropriate considering the extensive number of retailers in the neighborhood,” said Salley.
