Colonial Life employees finish annual United Way Campaign with outstanding results

December 10, 2018

Colonial Life and its employees, valued long-time supporters of United Way of the Midlands, completed their 2018 United Way campaign raising more than $388,000.

“Because of their strong commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for our children as well as their focus on health and wellness, Colonial Life is an outstanding corporate citizen and a wonderful community partner,” said United Way President & CEO Sara Fawcett. “We are grateful for their employees’ investment of time and treasure in our mission to improve the quality of life for everyone in the Midlands.”

Colonial Life’s employee campaign was led by Marie McGehee, director for Corporate Social Responsibility for Colonial Life. Colonial Life’s campaign included a Day of Service to help individuals and families in the community who are in need of personal hygiene items or are experiencing food insecurity or homelessness. Employees also volunteered and donated goods to local agencies through United Way’s Community Impact Partners Senior Resources and Transitions Homeless Center.

“Our Columbia campus employees brought great enthusiasm, creativity and support to this campaign, enabling us to do so much good for local organizations,” McGehee said. “Thanks so much to every employee who participated.”

Thanks to local partners like Colonial Life, United Way is leading the charge in improving quality of life in the Midlands by working to prevent homelessness, to provide affordable eye and dental care, and to prepare children to enter kindergarten ready to learn and graduate high school on time.
