Colonial Life, employees gave generously in 2014
February 25, 2015COLUMBIA, SC – Colonial Life and its employees were generous in giving of time, talents and resources to their communities in 2014.
The company contributed nearly $1.5 million to South Carolina charitable organizations in 2014, according to the company’s 2014 Corporate Social Responsibility Review. The contributions included donations to organizations selected by the company and matching gifts of employee contributions. In addition to the company’s financial contributions, and just as important, Colonial Life employees volunteered nearly 12,700 hours in the past year to their favorite causes.
“Our employees demonstrate their commitment to community service by giving of their time, talents and hard-earned financial resources,” says President and CEO Tim Arnold. “It’s an important part of our culture and one of the reasons Colonial Life was recently named one of the best places to work in South Carolina.”
Colonial Life’s corporate social responsibility program focuses on three main areas: education, health and wellness, and cultural arts. The United Way of the Midlands was the largest single beneficiary of the company’s charitable giving last year. It received more than $420,000 from the company and employees.
Other major charitable efforts during 2014 included a Habitat for Humanity house build that benefitted a Midlands family, a Strong Schools Grant Program that benefitted teachers in Richland School District One, and an art installation at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.
The recently released Corporate Social Responsibility 2014 Year in Review publication provides more information about specific organizations Colonial Life and its employees supported, including a complete list of contributions and features on volunteer activities.
