Colonial Textiles Demonstration at Walnut Grove Plantation
March 30, 2016Historic Walnut Grove Plantation will publicly demonstrate how colonists made their clothes Saturday, April 2, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. The Plantation, owned and operated by Spartanburg County Historical Association, is located at 1200 Otts Shoal Road in Roebuck, SC, in the southern portion of Spartanburg County.
The Colonial Textiles Demonstration will include spinning, weaving, and dyeing. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 5-18; children 4 and under will be admitted free. The admission fee includes a guided tour of Charles Moore’s 1767 manor house. The demonstration will be presented as part of Spartanburg Regional History Museum’s current exhibit, Textiles: A History of Innovation and Community at Chapman Cultural Center.
It is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays, 1-5 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call Julius Dargan at (864) 591-5596.
