About the Nickelodeon

The Nickelodeon is the only nonprofit art-house theater in South Carolina, proudly located on Columbia’s Main Street. The Nick strives to be a center for critical dialogue, anchored by the presentation of films that showcase the diversity, challenges, joy, and aspirations of its community.

About Indie Grits Labs

In response to tremendous growth of Indie Grits, the Columbia Film Society, the organization that runs the Nickelodeon Theatre, moved to create Indie Grits Labs to consolidate the Indie Grits Festival, the creation of new media artwork, and media education. Indie Grits Labs is a year-round institution for research, discussion, and creation—home to an art gallery, a PrintLab, meeting/workshop spaces, a recording studio, and a small screening venue.  Upcoming events include the Indie Grtis Festival (March 28-31) and an exhibition of new paintings and sculptures by Cedric Umoja at Indie Grits Labs, Spells for the Freeman / Liberation of Land Through Breath(March 21).
