Columbia Native and USC graduate Jeff Miller Releases New Movie

COLUMBIA, SC – THE BURNING DEAD, a new horror movie from writer/producer Jeff Miller, a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and the University of South Carolina’s Media Arts
program, has been released and is now on shelves at Walmart and Best Buy.

THE BURNING DEAD concerns a sheriff who must rescue an estranged family from a mountain during a volcano eruption and at the same time fight off a horde of zombies who have shot out of the volcano, brought to life by a curse.

Renowned star Danny Trejo (MACHETE, MACHETE KILLS) co-stars, along with Tom Downey (AXE GIANT: THE WRATH OF PAUL BUNYAN) and Moniqua Plante (“Nashville”). Rene Perez directs.

The movie was released on digital/VOD on March 3rd and on DVD on April 7th. It is available at Walmart, Best Buy, Family Video, and many other outlets.

Miller’s last feature, AXE GIANT: THE WRATH OF PAUL BUNYAN, was licensed to the Syfy Channel and sold to Netflix, Redbox, and Family Video in 2013. It also got a limited theatrical release, including at the Nickelodeon theater in Columbia.

Miller graduated from USC’s Media Arts school in 1992. He then helped write and/or produce three horror features in the Columbia area – FREAKSHOW, HELLBLOCK 13, and HEAD CHEERLEADER, DEAD CHEERLEADER – before moving to Los Angeles in 2001.

“I’d love to return to South Carolina and make another movie,” says Miller. “I’ve been in talks with a couple of people about possibly doing something.”

Miller has two features in post-production – the ghost story EDGAR ALLAN POE’S LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER and the drama BUG – and another one in pre-production, CLOWNTOWN, which will film in Ohio in May.
