Columbia Resident Larry L. Boyd Awarded The Frank P. Whitlock Award

COLUMBIA, SC – July 15, 2013 –  During the Annual Dining Out Ceremony, the South Carolina Military Department Joint Services Detachment’s (JSD) recognized Columbia resident, BG Larry L. Boyd, as the 2013 recipient of the Frank P. Whitlock Award. Honoring the integrity, competency, diligence and professionalism of the recipient, the award also evidences the highest level of admiration bestowed on the recipient by his/her peers. BG Boyd was selected for his dedicated, above and beyond service and significant contributions to the SCMD JSD.

“Always the first to arrive and the last to leave, BG Boyd is truly deserving of this award,” said Commander MG James E. Lockemy. “BG Boyd’s professionalism, preparation and attention to detail are worthy of this honor. We are grateful for his continuing service to the SC Military Department and to the Joint Services Detachment.”

About the Joint Services Detachment

The South Carolina Military Department’s Joint Services Detachment is composed of legal, medical, governmental, business and law enforcement executives who assist the Adjutant General in developing and reviewing policy. The Joint Services Detachment is an organization unique to the South Carolina Military Department.

Livingston, Jr. “the SCMD Joint Services Detachment serve without pay, provide expertise to support the Youth ChalleNGe Academy, the South Carolina Military Museum and assist in supporting our National Guard troops in preparation for deployment, during deployment and after they return from active duty deployment from locales across the globe. Additionally, JSD has worked tirelessly to promote tax relief for those members of the South Carolina State Guard who also serve without pay.”
