Coming soon: Rocktoberfest

September 27, 2023

Get ready to rock the boat and tip your glass back at the premiere of “Rocktoberfest” on October 7. Open to everyone, this will be a wonderful evening of live music and community featuring a line-up of local musicians. In order of performance, artists include the CME Redtails, solo artist Khamani, Breakfast Beer, solo artist Julia Clark, and She Might Get Loud.

Why it Matters

Rocktoberfest is organized by the University of South Carolina School of Music’s Music and Money class led by Jeremy Polley and Dr. Audra Vaz. The class teaches music majors the economies of nonprofit and for profit organizations as they relate to the arts. The first half of the semester is dedicated to planning this event to raise money for the school’s Music Industry Studies (MIS) and Guitar programs.

The class is split into four teams: Marketing, Operations, Production and Sponsorship. All funds raised will be split between the two programs, with MIS’s share going straight into the enrichment fund that pays for students’ experiential learning experiences and bringing in guest speakers from the industry.

USC cares deeply about supplying students with transferable job skills that will aid them in success after they graduate, which is why they are committed to showcasing the skills and potential of these students through this event. From Marketing to Audio Engineering to Public Relations to being a musician, the MIS program at USC is giving way to the next generation of music industry professionals.
