Community Asked to Pray – American Legion Post 25 Members Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Accident

March 2, 2026

Laurens County is accustomed to seeing members of American Legion Post 25 step forward to help others in times of need. Whether supporting veterans, assisting families in crisis, or serving at community events, the Post has long been a steady presence of service and compassion.

Now, the Post itself is facing a difficult moment.

On Sunday afternoon, seven members of American Legion Post 25 were enjoying a group motorcycle ride when a serious accident occurred on Highway 11. Two riders — Jim Massey and Jim Peterson — suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash.

Both men were transported to Greenville for emergency care and taken immediately into surgery. According to Post leadership, each rider was wearing a helmet, a safety requirement the Post enforces for all group rides.

Kevin Farnsworth Commander of Post 25 shared the gravity of the situation and the deep concern among members.

“This is a hard time for our Post family,” Farnsworth said. “Jim and Jim are both longtime members and brothers to us. We are asking everyone to lift them up in prayer and keep their families in your thoughts.”

American Legion Post 25 is considered a pillar of Laurens County — a group known not only for honoring those who served but for quietly showing up whenever the community needs them most. From veteran support initiatives to local outreach and charitable efforts, their impact reaches far beyond their membership.

Today, that same community is being asked to stand with them.

Friends, fellow veterans, and residents across Laurens County are encouraged to keep Jim Massey and Jim Peterson in their prayers as they fight to recover from their injuries.

In moments like these, the strength of a community is measured by how it supports those who have so often supported others. For Post 25, now is that moment.
