Congaree Land Trust Presents Fall Celebration – Sunday at Wavering Place
October 16, 2025Join Congaree Land Trust (CLT) for this year’s fall conservation celebration, “Sunday at Wavering Place,” on Sunday, November 2nd, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This event will recognize CLT’s recent 100,000 acre conservation milestone while offering families a wonderful opportunity to engage with nature on a historic property. Guests will learn about the vital role of local land conservation while enjoying a day of outdoor activities and supporting the important work of the Congaree Land Trust.
This fall celebration will be held at Wavering Place, a historic Richland County landmark that has been in the Adams family since 1768. After descendants initiated comprehensive preservation and restoration efforts, the property was placed under a conservation easement with the Congaree Land Trust in 2006. This ensured its lasting protection, and today, events like ‘Sunday at Wavering Place’ help support the continued architectural and historical integrity of the property and its features, such as its celebrated native plant gardens.
This gathering invites attendees to celebrate the local history and biodiversity by participating in any of the day’s planned activities:
- Enjoy live music by The Blue Iguanas
- Have a catered lunch by Doc’s Barbecue
- Listen in on history talks about Wavering Place with Weston Adams
- Take part in a nature walks with naturalist, John Cely
- Chat with local author Bubba Ross about his new book
- Meet & greet rescued wildlife with Black Creek Wildlife Center
- … plus various games and activities!
