May 14, 2013

GREENVILLE, SC – May 14, 2013 – Mauldin Mayor Dennis Raines has joined the board of directors of Connector 2000 Association.

This group of dedicated volunteers is the governing body of the Southern Connector, a 16-mile toll road that runs across the southern portion of Greenville County between Interstate 85 and Interstate 385. The road was recently used as the backdrop for the Cinemax production, Banshee.

Raines is serving his first-term as Mauldin mayor where he previously served six years on City Council. He is the business administrator of Mauldin First Baptist Church and Mauldin Christian Academy. He also serves as the director/founder of the Mauldin Miracle League.

We are proud to have someone with Dennis’ dedication to the community joining our board, said Bill Carpenter, chairman of Connector 2000 Association.

About the Southern Connector

The 16-mile Southern Connector was opened in 2001, eight and a half months ahead of schedule and under budget. The road was built with private money through a unique public-private partnership. No tax money was used for construction of the road. The state owns the highway, while the Association has the right to collect and retain tolls in order to repay bondholders under a license from the State through 2051.
