Consumer Product Safety Commission Chair, Inez Tenenbaum in South Carolina to Unveil Safe Kids South Carolina Safety and Prevention Calendar

COLUMBIA, SC – April 26, 2010 – Native South Carolinian, InezTenenbaum will be the guest speaker for the annual SafeKids South Carolina Safety and Prevention Calendar Luncheon unveiling.  Tenenbaum will address students, parents, teachers, state Safe Kids sitecoordinators and community advocates stressing the importance ofeducation and awareness of childhood injury prevention.

Safe Kids South Carolina, led by The Children’s Trust of South Carolina,is hosting the annual  unveiling and luncheon at 10:30 am, Thursday,April 29, 2010 at EdVenture Children’s Museum, 211 Gervais Street inColumbia. Media representatives are invited and Chair Inez Tenenbaumwill be available for interviews.

From toy safety to fire safety in the home, there are a variety ofdifferent measures we, as a community, can take to promise a saferlifestyle for our children, says Tenenbaum. The illustrations and tipscreated by South Carolina students in this year’s calendar should serveas a reminder for parents, teachers, and the community about theimportance of safety and injury prevention. 

The calendar, in its twelfth year, contains the artwork of thirteenelementary school children who were selected from hundreds of entriesstatewide for the August 2010 – July 2011 calendar.
