Cort Flint Joins Monahan & Moses, Named to Best Lawyers in America

GREENVILLE, SC – October 12, 2011 – Local patent attorney Cort Flint has joined the firm of Monahan & Moses LLC. His practice includes intellectual property and litigation in the areas of mechanical and electro-mechanical technology. Prior to joining Monahan & Moses, Flint was engaged in the private practice of patent, trademark, copyright, Internet law and related litigation in Greenville, S.C., for more than 35 years.
In addition, Flint has been selected for inclusion in the 2012 Best Lawyers in America. He has been included in Best Lawyers in America since 2004. Flint has also been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in the Upstate – Intellectual Property Law for 2011. He has been selected for this recognition since 2005. Flint has also received the highest rating, “av,” from Martindale Hubbell for the past 30 years of his practice.
Flint was raised in Anderson County, where he attended public schools. He was previously employed as an aerospace engineer with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) from 1966-70 and worked personally with Dr. Werner Von Braun on the Apollo moon project. He received the NASA Apollo Achievement Award in 1969 for working on the first moon landing.
Flint was a patent examiner with the United States Patent Office from 1970-74 and a law clerk with the United States Patent Board of Appeals in 1973. He attended the law schools of Georgetown University and Catholic University of America, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1974.
Flint’s professional and community involvement include: membership in the SC Bar, where he was a member of the House of Delegates from 1986-94 and again in 2001; member of Carolinas Patent Law Association, where he was a member of the Board of Directors from 1984-89 and president in 1990; member of the American Bar Association; and member of the International Trademark Association. Flint was elected to Greenville County Council in 2000 and 2004 and served on the Finance and Planning and Development committees. He is a member of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, Upstate Forever, Friends of the Reedy River and the Carolina Kids Conservancy.
