Count Dracula and the Undead Invite You to Dracula: Ballet with a Bite
October 20, 2016A year has passed since Count Dracula last sauntered onto the stage of KogerĀ Center. This spine-chilling performance is back for our 21st annual performance, Dracula: Ballet with a Bite, runningĀ from the evening of Thursday, October 27 through Saturday, October 29.
Based on the award winning novel by Bram Stoker, William Starrett, Executive and Artistic Director, brings this classicĀ horror story of Dracula to life. Audience members should prepare to be on the edge of their seats as they venture into theĀ dark and eerie world filled with haunting effects, ghoulish costumes and gripping choreography. Since its premiere inĀ 1991 Dracula has resonated with audiences across the region, or as The State deems it āone of the most thrilling andĀ pulsating performances of the ballet season.ā
Columbia City Ballet presents Dracula: Ballet with a Bite at the Koger Center for the Arts from October 27 at 7:30 p.m.,Ā October 28 at 7:00 p.m., with a black tie optional gala beginning at 9:00 p.m. and October 29 at 7:30 p.m., with a costumeĀ contest during the Saturday night performance intermission. Following our Friday performance, Columbia City Ballet will also be hosting its first annual Gala With A Bite beginningĀ at 9:00 p.m. across the street at the Darla Moore School of Business pavilion. The evening will take place in the setting ofĀ Draculaās castle, graveyard and dining room and will be filled with live music, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a silent auctionĀ to end the night. Proceeds from the Gala will go to the Columbia City Balletās annual fund and the Dracula performanceĀ set, scenery and costume preservation.
