County launches new round of community forums for ‘Reimagine Richland’
August 20, 2025Comprehensive Plan update will provide framework for long-term development
Richland County is moving into the third and final phase of “Reimagine Richland,” the 10-year update of the County’s Comprehensive Plan. This update, when completed, will provide County leadership a long-term guide for future policies on development and conservation.
The Comprehensive Plan process is divided into three phases: Discovery, Plan Development, and Plan Direction. During the plan direction phase, Richland County will present to the public policy recommendations, an action plan, and information on priority investments based on results from the process so far. Residents are invited to a series of public forum presentations on these topics, with the first on Wednesday, Aug. 27 and additional meetings listed below.
The County encourages residents and businesses to attend, participate, and share ideas at the meetings. Staff will be on hand to answer questions and take comments.
Meetings will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.:
- Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 701 Whaley, 701 Whaley St., Columbia
- Wednesday, Sept. 3 at Meadowlake Park, 600 Beckman Road, Columbia
- Wednesday, Sept. 10 at Upper Richland Community Center, 280 Camp Ground Road, Columbia
- Monday, Sept. 15 at Garners Ferry Adult Activity Center, 8620 Garners Ferry Road, Hopkins
