May 7, 2024

The Countybank Foundation, established in 1971 representing Countybank and Greenwood Capital, recently awarded a scholarship to Piedmont Technical College (PTC) student Royondia Ross, who is currently studying business administration.

A Greenwood resident, Ross received her GED in 2018 and went on to earn an associate in applied science degree in early care and education as well as a certificate in early childhood development. Business administration is her second major at PTC.

“We are pleased to continue our ongoing partnership with Piedmont Technical College and proudly present this year’s Countybank Foundation scholarship to Royondia, who represents high-achieving students in the Greenwood community,” said David Tompkins, Commercial Banking Manager for Countybank, who also serves on the PTC Foundation Board of Directors.

“Piedmont Technical College continues to be a huge asset to the Greenwood Community,” said Melissa Bane, PTC alumni and Senior Private Client Advisor for Greenwood Capital. “The experience I had there encouraged me to continue pushing myself forward in ways I had not thought possible. I know the school will continue to do that for students like Royondia.”

The Countybank Foundation annually provides scholarships to PTC students from Greenwood County based on academic record, financial need, and faculty recommendations. It is awarded to second semester students with a 3.0 GPA who are enrolled in the university’s technology, accounting, business administration, or office management programs.

“Generosity like this is changing lives,” said Fran Wiley, Associate Vice President of the PTC Foundation. “We gratefully salute the vision and spirit in which Countybank and Greenwood Capital support our students.”
