Countybank Foundation donation supports Greer Elementary School students

March 31, 2022

The Countybank Foundation, established in 1971 representing Countybank and Greenwood Capital, recently donated $2,500 to the Greer Centennial Lions Club, which the organization matched for a total contribution of $5,000.

This generous donation will go directly to a Title 1 elementary school in Greer with a large population of students living below the poverty level. The funds will be used to conduct eye exams and purchase glasses for approximately 20 students in need.

“We are grateful to the Countybank Foundation for their continued support not only financially, but also allowing club members to serve their community through the Greer Centennial Lions Club,” said Alison Rauch, President of the Greer Centennial Lions Club. “This matching grant will allow us to help children see their potential both in a figurative sense and literally in the classroom. We are thrilled to provide these services to kids who need them most.”

Countybank and Greenwood Capital are committed to supporting local regions that are in need, and this particular donation highlights how the Countybank Foundation strives to give back to low-income communities.

“As a prior President of the Greer Centennial Lions Club, I am proud of our club members and financial sponsors in the greater Greer community who have made it possible for us to make a difference by addressing some of the needs of our community,” said Jack Lucas, Senior Commercial Banker for Countybank. “It is a blessing to work for a financial institution that not only encourages its associates to be involved locally, but also backs that encouragement with financial contributions that can be used to help those in need.”

“To me, Greer is a unique community in that we have so many public and private groups that work together to make it a better place,” said Rudy Painter, inaugural President of the Greer Centennial Lions Club and Division Executive for Countybanc Insurance. “I am so proud of the Countybank Foundation for making this much-needed donation to our club, and I am also grateful to Countybank for encouraging our employees to serve and be involved in our communities.”

The Greer Centennial Lions Club was chartered in 2017 under the Lions Club International umbrella. The Lions Club motto is “We Serve,” and the organization strives to do that through five areas of focus: vision, hunger, childhood cancer, diabetes awareness, and the environment. The club currently has 34 members and has donated more than $30,000 back into the Greer community since its inception through fundraisers, sponsorships, and donations.
