Courtney Stonell Receives Leadership Award at 2025 Litter Summit

September 7, 2025

Keep Laurens County Beautiful (KLCB) Affiliate Coordinator Courtney Stonell was honored with the Upper Region Individual Leadership Award at the 2025 Litter Summit, hosted by the South Carolina Litter Control Association (SCLCA).

The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership in litter prevention and beautification across South Carolina. As the sole staff member of KLCB, Stonell has played a critical role in elevating the affiliate’s reach, visibility, and effectiveness—not just in Laurens County, but throughout the Upstate region.

“Courtney’s passion and dedication to making Laurens County cleaner, greener, and more beautiful are truly inspiring,” said Dabs Davis, President and CEO of the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce. “Her leadership has helped unite our communities around a common purpose—and the results speak for themselves.”

During this year’s Upstate Earth Month, Stonell worked in close collaboration with fellow Upstate affiliates to coordinate cleanup events, drive volunteer engagement, and amplify the message of environmental stewardship. The regional teamwork demonstrated the power of collective action, even as KLCB operates with a single dedicated leader at the helm.

The Upper Region Individual Leadership Award is presented annually to recognize impactful community leaders whose efforts are making a visible difference. Stonell previously received the Partnership Award in 2023, further underscoring her consistent commitment to building strong community relationships and improving quality of life across Laurens County.
