Craig Nix Awarded
January 29, 2008COLUMBIA, SC – JANUARY 29, 2008 – Columbia, S.C. – Craig Nix, CFO of First Citizens Bank, was recently awarded The State newspaper’s distinction as one of 20 under 40 rising stars in business.
Nix is a 1993 graduate of The University of South Carolina (USC) and South Carolina College (USC’s Honors College) with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. In addition to his degree, he became a certified public accountant in 1995. He also graduated from the BAI Graduate School of Banking at Vanderbilt University in 2002. Prior to joining First Citizens in 1999, he worked in various audit and advisory positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Nix’s first job at First Citizens was senior vice president and controller. Within less than a year and a half, Nix was promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer, where he is currently responsible for all finance-related functions. He is also the chairman of the board and president of Wateree Life Insurance Company and treasurer of the First Citizens Foundation.
Nix is active in the community, serving as a board member of Junior Achievement, a board member and Treasurer of the Country Club of Lexington, the USC Business Partnership Foundation, and the Revenue Task Force on Resources for a Competitive South Carolina. He is a past board member and Treasurer of the City Center Partnership. Besides his board appointments, Nix is a member of the South Carolina Bankers Association, the South Carolina American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Bank Financial Management Forum, and the Financial Managers Society.
