Crescendo Couples East Coast Expansion with New 701 Whaley Office

COLUMBIA, SC – May 4, 2009 — Crescendo Advertising has relocated its downtown Columbia offices to a creatively charged space at 701 Whaley Street, just a few months after opening a second branch in Ligoner, Penn. The move comes as business partners Melissa Ligon and Liane Baly enter Crescendo’s award-winning fourth year, pairing what they term an “upscale downsize” with an East Coast expansion.

“Since we love Crescendo so much, we feel nothing but excitement about our simultaneous return to our roots and adventure into new business frontiers,” said Ligon, who held studio space in 701 Whaley before joining Crescendo as a principal and art director.

Principal and Account Executive Liane Baly, who made the move to Pennsylvania with family this past year, enjoys both the new office space in vibrant downtown Ligonier as well as the 701 Whaley building to which she still travels biweekly to remain accessible to her Columbia client base. For an added degree of flexibility and constant communication, Baly uses the instant messaging system Skype to build strong client relationships and address clients’ questions and concerns throughout the course of individual campaigns.

“Skyping and commuting may be non-traditional business practices,” Baly said, “but innovating and finding creative solutions is what we’re all about. We see this not only as continuing Crescendo’s story, but moving forward into a new chapter.”

Nestled in the heart of newly renovated 701 Whaley, a former mill, YMCA and now a community and artists’ center, Crescendo is sure to glean inspiration from the building’s spirited past and creative atmosphere.

“From the beginning, 701 Whaley was built with the thought that creative people would be drawn to it,” said Richard Burts, who bought and renovated the property along with Robert Lewis in 2007. “Part of our entire effort was to recruit a blend of creative influences and personalities.”
