CYDC hires new VP of Residential Services

Carolina Youth Development Center (CYDC), a nonprofit serving the community’s most vulnerable children and families, has hired James “Jay” Johnson as its new VP of Residential Services.

Johnson has more than 20 years’ experience providing comprehensive case management and advocacy as a social services professional.

Most recently Johnson served as the Disabilities Association Coordinator for West Central Independent Living Solutions in Warrensburg, Mo., where he managed the day-to-day activities of staff focused on educating clients how to live independently utilizing Medicaid funding.

Prior to that he worked as a Juvenile Probation Officer and an Adolescent Community Support Specialist. Johnson is a retired Air Force veteran of 24 years.

Beverly Hardin, Carolina Youth Development Center Chief Executive Officer, praises Johnson’s child-centered background. “Jay brings a unique skill set to CYDC and our residential services. He will only enhance the individualized care plans we create that detail each child’s goals for their education, personal development, independent living and family involvement.”

He received his Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University, a Bachelor of Arts in Social Psychology from Park University in Parkville, Missouri and an Associate of Arts in Aircraft Maintenance Technology from the Community College of the Air Force in Montgomery, Alabama.
