Dailey Finishes in Top Eight at SCHSL State Singles Tournament
November 12, 2025Junior Libby Dailey delivered an impressive performance at the SCHSL State Singles Tournament held November 10–11, 2025, representing Region 3 AA among a field of thirty-two athletes selected from the A-AA-AAA division.
Dailey opened the tournament with a hard-fought round-of-32 victory over a Landrum opponent, winning 6-1, 4-6, 10–8. She advanced to the round of 16, where she faced the No. 4 seed from Pendleton and fell 6-4, 6-2. Feeding into the consolation draw, Dailey quickly regained momentum. She defeated a player from Christ Church 8-2, then earned a significant win over the No. 7 seed from Walhalla, 8-5. That victory secured her a coveted All-State position—an honor awarded to just 12 players across the A-AA-AAA division. Tennis is one of the few high school sports in which All-State recognition must be earned through tournament play.
Dailey continued her run with an 8-7 (3) win over a Dixie competitor in the consolation quarterfinals. Her tournament concluded in the consolation semifinals with an 8-4 loss to a player from Academic Magnet, securing her place in the top eight overall and ranking her among the top three public-school finishers in the A-AA-AAA division.
Hall of Fame coach Clovis Simmons supported and guided Dailey throughout the event, which capped an outstanding season for the Lady Red Devils. Clinton High School reached the Upper State Championship, and Dailey completed a perfect 15-0 singles season while earning All-Region honors and being named Region MVP.
