Davis Construction completes Clemson Electrical Distribution Upgrade
July 15, 2019Davis Construction is happy to announce the completion of a mass grading project in Clemson, SC covering a 6 acre area. The objective of the project was to create a pad upon which Duke Power could install a new switchyard, expanding much needed power distribution to a rapidly growing Clemson University.
Beginning on February 14, 2019 the project had its fair share of setbacks. Excessive rain made for a difficult work site, but J. Davis was prepared. Jarred Flemming, Senior Utilities Engineer with Clemson University said, “We had a few challenges with wet soil, but J. Davis brought in the necessary equipment to work and dry the dirt.”
Sam Sandifer, J. Davis’s Civil Division Leader, commented, “Our civil division did the majority of the work on this job. It was a great project for us and strengthened our existing relationship with Clemson University.” He was pleased the project wrapped up on time and on budget in spite of the difficult conditions.
Davis Construction President, Joel Davis, praised the hard work of the entire Civil Division on this project. “They faced a lot of challenges with this project, but at the end of the day everyone worked together to get it done. It was important to complete the pad on time so Duke Power could begin their work.”
Flemming concluded, “This was my first project working with J. Davis. I have been pleased with the work quality and speed and I’d be pleased to work with J. Davis again in the future.”
The Civil Division at J. Davis Construction is growing at a steady pace. Some of its services include demolition, grading, storm drainage, and streetscape/hardscape.
