Denmark Tech names Gilliard as athletic director

Denmark Technical College announced Jevon Gilliard has been hired as athletic director. A respected leader in Denmark Tech’s athletic history, Gilliard brings an unparalleled record of success and a deep commitment to athlete development to his new role.
As the winningest coach in Denmark Tech women’s basketball history and a member of the inaugural class of the Denmark Technical College Athletics Hall of Fame, Gilliard has been instrumental in shaping the college’s athletic program. His impact extends beyond the court, consistently emphasizing academic excellence, leadership and personal growth among his student-athletes.
“Coach Gilliard’s leadership, vision and dedication to our student-athletes make him the ideal choice to lead Denmark Tech’s athletic program into the future,” said Willie L. Todd Jr., Ph.D., president and CEO of Denmark Technical College. “His ability to cultivate talent, foster a culture of success and uphold the values of Denmark Tech will most certainly elevate our athletic programs and enhance the student experience.”
During his previous tenure as head coach from 2011 to 2017, Gilliard led the Denmark Tech women’s basketball team to unprecedented success, including four Region 10 Conference Championships, four Region 10 Tournament titles and the program’s first NJCAA Division I National Tournament appearance. His players consistently ranked among the nation’s best in scoring, steals and three-point percentage.

In addition to his time at Denmark Tech, Gilliard has held coaching positions at Columbia International University, Allen University and Bennett College.
“I am honored to step into this position and continue serving Denmark Tech in a new capacity,” said Gilliard. “This college and its athletic programs have played a significant role in my career and I am committed to ensuring that our athletes receive the resources, support and opportunities they need to thrive both in competition and in life.”
