Denmark Technical College announces Eric Brown, Ph.D., as its new president and chief executive officer
September 16, 2025Denmark Technical College has named Eric Brown, Ph.D. as its next president and chief executive officer. A dynamic, results-driven leader with more than two decades of experience in higher education administration and student support services, Brown brings a proven record of advancing student success and institutional excellence.
Brown holds a Ph.D. from Walden University, a master’s degree in human resources development from Webster University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Clemson University. With a strong foundation in human resources and political science, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the student experience and driving innovation across South Carolina’s technical and community college system.
Throughout his career, Brown has held key leadership roles, including associate vice president for student affairs at the South Carolina Technical College System and vice president of student affairs at Williamsburg Technical College. In these roles, he developed and implemented student support policies, oversaw compliance and accreditation efforts and spearheaded innovative programs that improved student retention and engagement. His leadership has generated hundreds of new student leads and expanded access to education statewide.
Brown’s expertise spans strategic planning, enrollment management, multimillion-dollar budget oversight, policy development and stakeholder engagement. He has served as a SACSCOC evaluator, contributed to statewide accreditation efforts and earned multiple honors, including the SCTEA Administrator of the Year Award.

Area Commission Chairman Kevin Whitt praised Brown’s appointment.

In addition to his administrative leadership, Brown has served as an adjunct faculty member and co-authored scholarly work. His involvement on community boards reflects his commitment to service and accessibility in higher education.
With his forward-thinking approach and dedication to student success, Brown’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Denmark Technical College.
