Charleston Sister Cities International (CSCI) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and member of Washington, D.C. bases Sister Cities International founded in 1956 by President Eisenhower to promote peace and prosperity via community diplomacy.

Charleston Sister Cities International globally promotes the Charleston Region and enhances our community’s international understanding through trade missions and economic development, urban development, environmental, resiliency and sustainability initiatives, educational, healthcare advancement, arts and cultural, sports and tourism exchanges with CSCI partners abroad .

CSCI current global partners are: Spoleto, Italy; Panama City, Panama; Speightstown, Barbados; Freetown, Sierra Leone; and Doha, Qatar.

CSCI partners are primarily, but not exclusively, port cities that have existing/ potential commercial, and/or significant historical and cultural ties to the Charleston area.
