The Spartanburg Academic Movement (SAM) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that convenes partners, aligns resources, and drives equity to improve academic and life success, cradle through career, for residents of Spartanburg County, SC.

SAM tracks and monitors academic achievement across kindergarten readiness; early grades reading; middle grades math; high school graduation; post-secondary enrollment; post-secondary persistence; and post-secondary completion. SAM convenes program and service providers serving children and families in our community to align resources and drive equity.

SAM operates the John T. Wardlaw Insitute for Continuous Improvement that offers free training for Spartanburg County Educators, Community Members, and Service/Program Providers. The Institute offers low-cost training for those outside Spartanburg County.
