District Five names new director of technology

IRMO, SC – Lexington-Richland School District Five has named long-time school technology leader Don Earle its new director of technology.

Earle is currently director of information technology operations in Richland School District Two, where he has served in various leadership roles since 1997. Earle also has worked as a network engineer in Horry County Schools, where he installed and designed new networks and supervised technicians. He also has served in the private sector, including Telcom Communications and Wedge Computers. Earle will assume his new role at District Five in January.

District Five Superintendent Dr. Stephen Hefner said, “Mr. Earle has the expertise and proven record to continue our goal to provide students with the cutting-edge technology that prepares them for top jobs and future careers. We look forward to his service as we continue to strive for excellence for our students and community.”

Earle attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he majored in computer science. He also has served in several leadership roles, both in his job overseeing technology and through groups and organizations. In 2012, Earle served as technology chair for the South Carolina Association of School Administrators Technology Round Table.
