District Five offers Golden Passes to senior citizens
August 2, 2018Lexington-Richland School District Five is encouraging senior citizens to be involved and active in district-sponsored events and activities for the upcoming school year.
District Five is again offering Golden Passes to residents who will be 60-years-old or older during the 2018-2019 school year. The permanent photo identification card provides free admission into most athletic and cultural arts events in District Five, excluding playoff games. Last year, more than 300 individuals were issued District Five Golden Passes.
“The Golden Pass program is a wonderful way to bring the community together and show our thanks to the senior community members who make an impact volunteering and supporting our schools, teachers and students,” District Five Superintendent Dr. Christina Melton said. “Students enjoy the pride and spirit our community provides during school events and activities, and it is my hope that participation will continue to grow this year.”
As part of a new initiative to the Golden Pass, District Five has partnered this year with Greenville County Schools for its reciprocal program. For specified away athletic events, District Five Golden Pass recipients will be given free admission.
Passes will be issued on Tuesday, August 7 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. and Wednesday, August 8 between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the district administration building, which is located at 1020 Dutch Fork Road in Irmo. Golden Passes are lifetime passes and do not need to be renewed.
