District hires six contractors for 38 building plan projects

At its Feb. 19, 2019 meeting, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees awarded construction management at risk contracts for 38 upcoming school construction, additions or repairs projects to six companies: Contract Construction, Edcon, Inc., H.G. Reynolds Company, Inc., Hood Construction, Inc., M.B. Kahn Construction Co., Inc., and Thompson Turner Construction.

With the Construction Manager at Risk method, each company commits to serve as construction manager on a project(s) and to deliver that project(s) within a guaranteed maximum price based on the construction documents and specifications.

The 38 projects awarded come from the district’s $365 million building plan approved by Lexington District One voters during the November 6, 2018 General Election.

Contract Construction, located in Ballentine, will serve as construction management at risk for project work on Elementary School #18 (Town of Lexington area elementary school), Deerfield Elementary, Meadow Glen Elementary, Rocky Creek Elementary, Lexington Middle (repurposing), Meadow Glen Middle, Lexington High and River Bluff High.

Edcon, Inc., located in Peak, will serve as construction management at risk for project work on Carolina Springs Elementary, Forts Pond Elementary, Lake Murray Elementary, Midway Elementary, Oak Grove Elementary, Pleasant Hill Elementary, Carolina Springs Middle, Pelion Middle (repurposing), Maintenance Facility and Transportation Facility.

H.G. Reynolds Company, Inc., located in Aiken, will serve as construction management at risk for project work on a new Lexington Middle, new Pelion Middle and White Knoll High additions.

Hood Construction, Inc., located in Columbia, will serve as construction management at risk for project work on Lexington Elementary, New Providence Elementary, Red Bank Elementary, Saxe Gotha Elementary, White Knoll Elementary, Pleasant Hill Middle, White Knoll Middle and the Rosenwald Community Learning Center.

M.B. Kahn Construction Co., Inc., located in Columbia, will serve as construction management at risk for project work on new Elementary School #17 (Gilbert area), Gilbert Elementary, Gilbert Primary, Pelion Elementary, Gilbert Middle, Gilbert High and Lexington Technology Center.

Thompson Turner Construction, located in Sumter, will serve as construction management at risk for project work on new Elementary School #19 (White Knoll area) and Pelion High.
