Dixon Hughes Goodman Donates Over 400,000 Lbs. of Food
January 9, 2015COLUMBIA, SC – In the last 12 months, Dixon Hughes Goodman (DHG) donated 431,475 lbs. of food to organizations that feed the hungry. With their Count the Cans Food Drive, the accounting and advisory firm continues to help those in need.
Bethanne Chapman, senior associate for Dixon Hughes Goodman, has been in charge of DHG’s Count the Cans Food Drive for the Upstate, SC office during the past three years. She stated that this year all 33 offices throughout the southeast, Texas and New York participated in collecting cans of food for the needy.
“In our country where many of us have so much, there are many that have very little,” commented Chapman. “An adequate supply of food should be available for all Americans, and until we can provide enough food for those that are hungry, we must all do our part and help those in need.”
Dixon Hughes Goodman’s successful Count the Cans Food Drive benefited Loaves & Fishes whose tagline is “bringing the hungry fresh food daily”. They state that 18.8% of South Carolinians are food insecure, which means they do not know if they will have enough to eat from one day to the next. Over 61,000 people in Greenville County do not know where their next meal will come from. Loaves and Fishes depends on food drives like Count the Cans to feed the hungry in our community.
