DNA Creative Communications Recognized for ‘Creative Spirit’ At Community Foundation’s 2011 Charitable Giving Awards

GREENVILLE, SC – November 16, 2011 – Debbie Nelson, principal of DNA Creative Communications (DNA) recently received the “Creative Spirit” award on behalf of her team at the 2011 Charitable Giving Awards. The event was hosted by the Community Foundation of Greenville.
The Creative Spirit award recognized DNA for its continuous support of community organizations, a mission that lies at the very core of the company. Two years ago, Nelson and her staff launched their Live Here Give Here program, which is a year-long, pro-bono partnership where one area nonprofit receives DNA services to help develop strategy in public relations, branding or social media. After reviewing numerous applications, DNA recognized that a great need existed in the nonprofit arena, and they wanted to reach out to a larger number of organizations. From that revelation, the “Shine the Light on Your Nonprofit educational series” was born. The DNA team hosts seminars in branding, social media, media relationship-building and special event sponsorships to community organizations during the annual series. In 2010, around 400 people representing 130 nonprofits from across the Upstate attended the seminars.
Nelson and her staff were very appreciative of their recognition at the Charitable Giving Awards. “Thank you so much for this incredible honor. We are truly humbled and appreciative to be recognized for our work,” says Nelson.
The team at DNA estimates that they have donated more than 1,700 hours in the development and execution of their nonprofit campaigns.
