DNA Offers Social Media Insight to SC Technical College Officers in Florence

October 5, 2011

GREENVILLE, SC – October 5, 2011 -Debbie Nelson, principal of DNA Creative Communications (DNA) and Dana Morgan, Account Manager, travelled to Florence to give social media recommendations and insight to Chief Development Officers of the SC Technical College System. The presentation by DNA focused on how to effectively use online tools to communicate with alumni as well as utilize branding techniques to help foster online relationships with donors.

“Cultivating alumni spirit through social media outreach can provide limitless opportunities to the higher education fields. From serving as a central online community, an outreach mechanism and a connector between alma mater and real world, an effective social media presence by a college can propel its alumni relations and giving programs forward,” said Nelson.

More than 30 development officers and grant writers representing technical colleges around the state attended the Peer Group Retreat to identify effective strategies and opportunities in economic development, grant-writing and online communications for foundations. The Retreat was held at the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SiMT) in Florence, a premiere technical service provider and training facility for industries in the Southeast.
