$25k Contribution from House of Raeford
June 10, 2015LEXINGTON, SC – House of Raeford Farms Inc., FLOCK program is making a $25,000 contribution to Lexington Interfaith Community Services (LICS) to provide funding for the purchase of a ‘mobile food pantry’.
The contribution, in conjunction with other funds, will allow for the purchase of a bus, and the up-fit, that will allow the ministry to deliver non- perishable food, fresh produce, and meats to individuals and families that they serve through their FFL Program, who are living in the rural areas of Lexington County.
The FFL, or Food for Living program, provides food to individuals and families receiving Social Security, Disability, or Veteran’s Benefits. The purpose of this program is to supplement food in the households of mainly the elderly and disabled, allowing clients to stretch their dollars further each month.
Robin Bowers, Executive Director at LICS, emphasizes the need for the mobile food pantry: “Many of our clients are facing transportation, health, and many other issues that prohibit them from being able to make it to our location to pick up their food. Our families depend on this supplemental food to make it through the month. Meeting them in their community provides more than just food to these families- it provides hope.”
The mobile food pantry will deliver to local churches each month in areas of Lexington County including Pelion, Swansea, Batesburg-Leesville, Gaston, and West Columbia.
