Domestic violence survivors embark on a 5 week self-defense journey

Empowering Survivors Through Krav Maga
Sistercare and Jamie Scott Fitness are joining together to provide a group of domestic violence survivors with a series of five Krav Maga self-defense classes, equipping them with valuable skills to build confidence and enhance personal safety. Krav Maga is a world-renowned self-defense system known for its focus on real-world situations. Jamie Scott, a newly certified expert in Krav Maga and a Board Member of Sistercare, is collaborating with Sistercare’s CEO, Leah Wicevic, on this initiative. The goals of this program are to increase awareness of domestic violence, provide survivors with the tools to defend themselves in an empowering and safe environment– entirely free-of-charge, and raise funds for Sistercare in an innovative way.
When– The program began on February 11th, 2025, and will conclude on March 11th, 2025.

Abusers thrive on power and control, systematically trying to reduce survivors to a shell of their former selves. Gaining confidence, skills, and feeling supported by Sistercare and the community allows survivors to take back their power and continue towards a life free from abuse.”
Sponsorship opportunities are available to the public- All sponsorships go directly to Sistercare to fund essential programs that assist domestic violence survivors and their children. These programs include emergency shelter, 24/7 crisis line, counseling services, court advocacy, teen outreach, and more.
