Dominion Energy announces opening date for Lake Murray public parks
March 19, 2026Cash Will No Longer Be Accepted As Payment
Dominion Energy will welcome visitors back to its Lake Murray public parks for the 2026 recreation season next month.
The beach and recreation area on the Lexington side of Lake Murray dam will open for the season from April 1 through Labor Day, Sept. 7. Visitors planning to use the Lexington-side beach and recreation area are reminded that day passes must be reserved in advance through Dominion Energy’s online reservation system at DominionEnergy.com/LakeMurray.
Reservations can be made up to three weeks in advance. Each pass will be valid for the entire day. However, visitors will not be able to reuse the pass once they leave.
“Lake Murray is a favorite summer destination for many visitors across the Midlands and beyond,” said Billy Chastain, manager of Lake Management for Dominion Energy South Carolina. “We’re excited to welcome guests back and encourage everyone to follow boating and swimming safety guidelines while enjoying the parks.”
Parking fees are $5 per vehicle per day and help offset the cost of maintenance, security and improvements at the parks.
New for 2026, the Irmo-side boat launch will no longer accept cash for parking payments. Visitors using the boat launch will need to pay online once they arrive.
