Dominion Energy awards $50,000 to Midlands Technical College Foundation
June 3, 2024Dominion Energy has donated $50,000 to the Midlands Technical College (MTC) Foundation to fund Career Launch Grants for students in high-demand professions such as welder, HVAC technician, automotive technician, and nursing.
$25,000 of the gift was made in honor of the retirement of MTC President Dr. Ronald L. Rhames.
“MTC and Dominion Energy share an unwavering commitment to elevating our community. Career Launch Grants can make a life-changing impact, and we are grateful for Dominion’s investment in MTC,” said Nancy McKinney, CEO of the Midlands Technical College Foundation.
Dominion Career Launch Grants will be used to fund tools and equipment necessary for training and cover the costs of licensure and certification examinations for students who have completed their training.
“Dominion Energy’s investment in Career Launch Grants will help students facing financial challenges get one step closer to their desired careers with a little less worry,” Dominion Energy South Carolina President Keller Kissam said. “It is fitting to honor Dr. Rhames in this way. He has been a trailblazer at Midlands Technical College and an advocate for workforce development who will surely leave a legacy at the college, as well as the communities we are both proud to serve.”
