Dominion Energy expands Assistance Program for small businesses

May 1, 2024

Dominion Energy South Carolina has expanded the eligibility and increased the award amount in the EnergyShare for Small Businesses program, which provides energy bill relief to eligible small businesses, nonprofits, and houses of worship across our service area.

Administered in partnership with the United Way Association of South Carolina, the two-year pilot program will offer qualified businesses in Dominion Energy South Carolina’s service area a one-time financial assistance of up to $2,500 toward their electric bill.

“Small businesses have long been the backbone of the communities we serve,” said Keller Kissam, president of Dominion Energy South Carolina. “It’s important that we do everything we can to help them continue to contribute to our state’s economic vitality. We are grateful to the United Way for partnering with us on this worthy work.”

To be eligible, businesses must:

  • Be a house of worship, an independently owned and operated for-profit business or a nonprofit business that holds a 501(c)(3) status.
  • Have an active business account and license to do business in Dominion Energy’s service territory.
  • Be considered a small general service customer as determined by Dominion Energy South Carolina on a qualifying rate.
  • Receive electric service from Dominion Energy South Carolina.
  • Employ 50 or fewer people as of Jan. 1, 2024.
  • Have arrears equal to or more than $300, plus current charges.

“We are excited to continue this great partnership with Dominion Energy to help expand the EnergyShare program,” said Henry Well, President, and CEO of United Way Association of South Carolina. “These funds will provide relief to qualifying houses of worship, nonprofit organizations and small businesses.”

Applicants must submit a completed and e-signed application via the web form. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. The application will remain open until program funds are exhausted.
