October 31, 2019

Dominion Energy South Carolina signed a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve today during a special ceremony at its corporate campus with employees and members of our nation’s armed forces.

With the signing of this Statement of Support, which is a U.S. Department of Defense program, Dominion Energy South Carolina joins other employers in pledging its full support of employees in the National Guard and Reserve. Dominion Energy pledges to:

  • Recognize, honor and comply fully with the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA).
  • Provide our managers and supervisors with the tools they need to effectively manage employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
  • Appreciate the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and encourage opportunities to hire guardsmen, reservists and veterans.
  • Recognize and support continually our country’s service members and their families in peace, in crises and in war.

“Today, supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units,” said Eli Wishart, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve state chairman for South Carolina. “I am asking all South Carolina employers to take a look at their current human resources policies to incorporate policies supportive of Guard and Reserve employees.”

By meeting the Statement of Support criteria, an employer pledges to stand proudly with its Guard and Reserve employees, who continue to answer their nation’s call to defend our way of life. Their sacrifices are essential to the strength of our nation.

“Dominion Energy values and supports our men and women in the military, which is why one in every five new hires is a veteran,” said Rodney Blevins, president and CEO of Dominion Energy Southeast Energy Group. “Part of that support is ensuring we continue to be an employer who recognizes the ongoing sacrifices of our service members by providing the flexibility that allows them to fulfill their National Guard and Reserve duties while working civilian jobs.”

Dominion Energy joins a cadre of Fortune 500 companies, state and federal agencies, and thousands of America’s employers in demonstrating support for members of our armed forces. By signing the Statement of Support, Dominion Energy is sending a clear message to its employees that while they are serving their country, they do not have to worry about their civilian jobs.
