Donaldson Field passes FAA inspection

Donaldson Field, a general aviation airport located at the South Carolina Technology & Aviation Center (SCTAC), passed its yearly Federal Aviation Administration Part 139 Certification Operations Inspection with flying colors.

“Passing FAA inspection speaks to the hard work and dedication of our staff,” said SCTAC Chief Operations Officer Danny Moyd.
FAA Airport Certification Safety Inspector Warren Relaford commended Donaldson Field for the procedures it uses in the day-to-day operation of the airport and added, “The appearance of the airport indicates they are effective.”

Donaldson Field is inspected annually by the FAA to confirm it is complying with its operating certificate and certification manual. The comprehensive inspection focuses on such areas as condition of runway and taxiway pavement, markings and lighting; accuracy and completeness of records for facility self-inspections and training of personnel; and aircraft fueling operations.  Inspectors also critique the airport’s certification manual – a comprehensive document that includes an emergency plan for a variety of operational scenarios.

Operated as a service of SCTAC, Donaldson Field is a major aircraft maintenance and modification center providing everything from major repairs to routine inspections. Other uses include air charters, hangar and tie-down rental, flight lessons, pilot and aircraft supplies.
