Dorchester County awarded $1 million Community Development Block Grant towards waterline improvement project in Stratton Capers neighborhood

Dorchester County has received a $1 million Community Development Block Grant from the S.C. Department of Commerce to fund Phase 2 of the Stratton Capers waterline replacement project. The upgrades include 2,500 feet of new 8-inch waterline and four additional fire hydrants to improve water pressure and fire protection.
The County will contribute more than $161,000 in matching funds. Last year, Phase 1 received similar funding to install 4,600 feet of waterline and six hydrants, with construction set to begin in fall 2025. Altogether, the two phases will benefit approximately 120 households.
The County is also pursuing additional CDBG funding for sidewalks in Dorchester Manor.
