Dr. Deanna Moore Elected as President-Elect of South Carolina Music Teachers Association
November 14, 2014GREENVILLE, SC – Dr. Deanna Moore, professor of music at Bob Jones University, was recently elected as President-Elect of the South Carolina Music Teachers Association (SCMTA) during their recent state conference held at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina. Prior to her election as President-Elect, Dr. Moore served as Vice President for Conferences for the SCMTA.
During the conference, Moore was responsible for inviting nationally-recognized pedagogue Ingrid Jacobson Clarfield and internationally acclaimed pianist Lucille Chung to perform. She also set the conference schedule, hosted guests, and emceed many of the events.
Moore, a resident of Taylors, earned a Doctor of Music Arts in Piano Performance from the University of South Carolina, where she studied piano and piano pedagogy under Scott Price. She also studied literature and pedagogy under Charles Fugo and Marina Lomazov. She received a B.M. and M.M. in Piano Performance from BJU studying under the late Laurence Hamilton Morton. She serves on the faculty of the BJU Summer Music Camps and gives presentations and workshops for students and teachers.
