Dr. Manika Sharma from Pediatrix Medical Group to serve as March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction event chair
January 29, 2019The March of the Dimes is pleased to announce that Dr. Manika Sharma, of Columbia, SC, will serve as the chair for the 2019 Columbia Signature Chefs Auction. The event will be held on November 7th at 701 Whaley—a new venue for this culinary celebration. As the event chair, Dr. Sharma will play an integral role in raising awareness and funds to advance the research and educational programs at the core of March of Dimes’ efforts to improve the health of every mom and baby.
A clinician and philanthropist, Manika Sharma, MD, practices neonatology at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital. She is an assistant professor of Pediatrics at University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Sharma is also an experienced volunteer leader with the March of Dimes, participating in numerous events in the last several years.
“I am honored to be serving as the chair for the Signature Chefs Auction to benefit the March of Dimes,” said Sharma. “This unique event highlights the diverse culinary talent in Columbia and surrounding areas while supporting a truly worthy and noble cause. I am thrilled to be working with a group of generous volunteers and gifted chefs who are committed to fighting for the health of all mothers and babies.”
March of Dimes Columbia Signature Chefs Auction will be held on November 7th, 2019, at 701 Whaley. The Signature Chefs Auction, celebrates culinary excellence with top chefs from across the Midlands area. Featuring tastings of each restaurant’s celebrated creations, with 350+ attendees expected this year, the Columbia Signature Chefs Auction is a not-to-be-missed “who’s who” of top business and medical leaders!
Funds raised by Signature Chefs Auction help support prenatal wellness programs, research grants, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) family support programs and advocacy efforts for moms and babies.
Today, one in every ten U.S. infants is born premature, including more than 6,000 in South Carolina. The March of Dimes is committed to funding research to find the answers to problems that continue to threaten the lives and health of babies.
