Dr. Tony Foster Appointed to SC Juvenile Parole Board
February 8, 2022The Senate Corrections and Penology Committee recently convened to review candidates for the South Carolina Juvenile Parole Board. Among them was Dr. Tony A. Foster of Greenwood, SC.
“It was a distinct honor for me to be confirmed by the S.C. Senate Corrections and Penology Committee, an appointed by Governor Henry McMaster to the S.C. Juvenile Parole Board, said Foster.
The Board of Juvenile Parole is charged with the responsibility of determining when and under what conditions juveniles indeterminately committed to the Department of Juvenile Justice shall be released. The Board has adopted a balanced approach philosophy to juvenile justice, which provides the Board consider not only the needs of the juvenile, but also the interests of the victim(s) and the interests of the state when rendering parole decisions.
“Pastor Tony Foster is an asset to our community and South Carolina,” said Rep. Stewart Jones. “I appreciate his willingness to continue to serve the children and people of our state!”
Foster’s desire to serve on the SC Juvenile Parole Board comes from strong Christian faith and a desire to see all youth maximize their potential and become productive citizens in their communities.
Foster has been a Christian and in ministry for more than 33 years. “As a pastor, it has saddened my heart to see so many young children and teenagers
incarcerated,” he said.
He has studied the statistics in South Carolina and found that the highest juvenile arrest rates have been among African American males. He hopes to see these children and youth become all that God has intended them to be, and that is productive citizens in our society. Pastor Foster ‘s motto is “Your success, is my Honor”. “Any way I can help these young juvenile offenders, become all God has called them to be, and to became productive citizens in our society, that is my ultimate goal,” said Foster
Foster is one of the founding Seniors Pastor of Restoration Worship Center, in Greenwood, S.C. President of Restoration Bible College. He is also the author of four books.
Foster received his Bachelor of Theology, Master of Theology, Masters of Sacred Studies, and Doctor of Sacred Studies from Christian Life School of Theology. He also received two Honorary Doctorates: Doctor of Divinity, and Doctor of Letters from Christian Bible Institute & Seminary. In addition, he has worked as a Health Educator/ Counselor with the University of South Carolina, Social Work Department.
Foster is also a board member of Charter Institute at Erskine, Palmetto Family, and Chairman of CrossRoads Women Center, in Greenwood, S.C. He is married to Pastor Joanie Foster, and they have two sons James and Trey.
