Duke Energy names Melissa Anderson chief human resources officer

GREENVILLE, NC – Duke Energy has named Melissa Anderson senior vice president and chief human resources officer, effective Jan. 21, 2015.

Anderson will be responsible for human resources policy, strategy and processes related to talent management and diversity, employee and labor relations, total rewards programs, and delivery of business partner services.

“Melissa is a veteran human resources executive who has driven workforce strategy initiatives and has an excellent track record for delivering results,” said Lynn Good, president and CEO. “One of our main focuses is employee engagement and development. Melissa’s background in developing and implementing talent strategies will be an asset to Duke Energy.”

Anderson most recently served as senior vice president of human resources for Domtar, Inc., a Montreal-based company with 10,000 employees that produces fiber-based products, technology and services.

Her previous experience includes serving as vice president of human resources of global financing at IBM Corporation. During her 17-year tenure with the Fortune 100 company, Anderson created and implemented talent strategies as well as led successful cultural initiatives.

Anderson, 50, graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where she received her BS in industrial relations. She received her Master of Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.
