Early bird registration for “Midlands Gives 2016” is Monday, Nov. 30
November 30, 2015Nonprofits That Register Early Can Win One of Four $250 Prizes
The 24-hour online giving challenge presented by Central Carolina Community Foundation raised more than $1.5 million in one day last May
COLUMBIA, SC – You may remember when more than $1.5 million was raised in one day for 250+ local charities on Midlands Gives Day last spring. Now, nonprofits that register for Midlands Gives 2016 by November 30 will be eligible for one of four $250 prizes via the Central Carolina Community Foundation – the Midlands’ expert on philanthropy.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Charities are experiencing a decline in year-end donations due to the response to October’s historic flooding. Participation in Midlands Gives will bring the community together in the spring. Donors can amplify giving to hundreds of local causes, helping them bridge the flood’s effect on giving. Last year, nonprofit participants raised an average of $3000.
HOW YOU CAN HELP?
The public is encouraged to contact their favorite charities to make sure that they know about Midlands Gives and the $250 prizes for early bird registration by the Nov. 30 deadline. There is no fee for charities to register for Midlands Gives. Final deadline is Feb. 29, 2015.
THE DETAILS
Although the regular registration deadline is Feb. 29, 2016, organizations are encouraged to register by Nov. 30, 2015 to be eligible for one of four randomly drawn $250 “early bird” prizes. To qualify for an early bird prize, nonprofits must (1) register for Midlands Gives and (2) register for South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations (SCANPO) Training Webinars before November 30, 2015. The Foundation’s partners at SCANPO will once again offer extensive, comprehensive marketing and social media training packages for participating nonprofits.
Any 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization in good standing with the IRS, and a local office in one of the 11 Midlands counties the Foundation serves, is eligible to participate.
