Because Hunger Doesn’t Take a Summer Vacation

East Cooper Medical Center is leading a community effort to provide area children and adults struggling with hunger with a healthy breakfast during the summer through its Healthy Over Hungry® Cereal Drive benefitting the Lowcounty Food Bank. The drive kicks off on Friday, June 7 and runs through Friday, June 14.

“At East Cooper Medical Center, we understand the health issues that can result from hunger and poor nutrition,” said Patrick Downes, chief executive officer of East Cooper Medical Center. “We recognize the importance of beginning each day with a nutritious breakfast and, through this drive, we hope to help the many in our community struggling with food insecurity. We invite everyone to contribute to this year’s drive and help us reach our goal of 30,000 servings!”

During the 2018 cereal drive, East Cooper Medical Center collected 27,784 servings of cereal. In an effort to spark some creative interest in this year’s cereal drive, East Cooper Medical Center will conduct a cereal eating contest and a Cereal Box Castle Contest. Details for both are below.
