East Point Academy named #8 Best Charter School in S.C.

February 21, 2018

East Point Academy (EPA) was recently named #8 Best Charter School in South Carolina by Niche – an online platform which evaluates schools nationwide. The rankings and information collected by Niche helps students and their families find schools best suited for them. In addition to being ranked #8 Best Charter School in S.C. (out of 72 charter schools in the Palmetto State), Niche also gave EPA an overall grade of A-. Both honors are consistent with other awards East Point Academy has received in past.

Niche rankings are calculated by a team of data scientists, engineers, parents and community members who analyze public data and millions of reviews from students and parents for schools throughout the U.S.  These rankings are considered one of the most comprehensive tools to evaluate school culture and performance.

After being told about these rankings, Head of School, Mark Bounds, said “I am so proud of our teachers and students. This recognition by Niche.com confirms our strong focus on academics and our dedication to the success of our students. I am amazed everyday as I watch our students master the Mandarin language while excelling academically.”

East Point Academy, founded in 2011, is a Mandarin immersion public charter school in West Columbia, S.C., serving over 500 students in preschool through eighth grade. EPA students receive half of their daily instruction in Mandarin Chinese. The school is tuition free and open to all students in S.C., regardless of their zoned district. Applications for the 2018-19 school year are currently being accepted.

East Point Academy has also been named a Palmetto Gold School and a South Carolina Public Charter School District School of Distinction.
